Psalm 119 is one of my favorite psalms, the longest psalm and longest chapter in the Bible at 176 verses. The psalm is all about the importance and authority of God's word, and how we should love and strive to obey it.
In barrel racing, the horse and rider have to follow a set pattern. Penalties are given for deviating from it. And if a horse and rider team goes totally off-pattern, they're disqualified altogether.
Through Christ's death on the cross, God has made a provision for all of us who go off the pattern He laid out for us. But He still expects us to study and follow the course set out for us in His word.
